Laura has always had issues with overlapping lower teeth. She had difficulty flossing and therefore struggled to maintain good oral health.
As she got older, the teeth in her upper jaw also began to shift. For this 28-year-old patient, it was unthinkable to have to wear braces such as metal brackets, which she felt would have been unattractive for a young woman.
When I met her in January 2020, Laura felt very self-conscious about her smile and told me she usually avoided showing her teeth. She wanted a discreet method to realign them and had searched online for a dentist in Geneva who offers Invisalign treatment.

Her teeth certainly needed a little alignment, but there was nothing catastrophic from an aesthetic or functional standpoint (eating, closing the jaw, etc.). In this type of case, the psychological component is important, because misaligned teeth cause social discomfort. It is often this that triggers the need to consult an orthodontist.
After carrying out the necessary examinations, we decided to implement an Invisalign treatment plan to get Laura’s smile alignment back on track. Invisalign uses a series of transparent, custom-made aligners to move your teeth into place safely in just a few months.
I gradually provided Laura with several series of aligners. The follow-up appointment (about every 5 weeks) allowed me to ensure the treatment was progressing properly and to guide her on caring for her aligners. In the end, in just 9 months, Laura’s teeth were realigned and the overlap corrected. The results achieved with Invisalign invisible aligners (literally) gave her back her smile.
Apart from my family members, most people do not even know that I wore Invisalign aligners!

Advances in technique and the advent of invisible aligners now make treatments highly effective and discreet, so as not to interfere with social and professional life.
Contrary to what one might think, orthodontics is not intended only for children and teenagers. Orthodontic treatment in adulthood has a positive effect on appearance and self-esteem, as well as a lasting effect on oral health. Laura says, for example, that apart from her family members, most people do not even know that she wore Invisalign aligners!
Here are the other most common cases successfully treated at the Dental Geneva practice:
- Excessive spacing between teeth: the teeth are too far apart, leading to a risk of food trapping and therefore cavities.
- Diastema (gap between the front teeth): the most common case is the space between the two incisors of the upper jaw.
- Teeth that protrude too far forward: this imperfection is corrected using a dental elastic.
- Deep bite: when the upper incisors and canines cover the lower teeth.
- Underbite cases: when the lower teeth overlap the upper teeth.
- Open bite: this is a space between the teeth of the upper jaw and those of the lower arch (when the mouth is closed).
- Edge-to-edge bite: the incisors meet edge to edge, leading to premature wear.
- Anodontia: absence of one or more teeth in the jaw.
