Lingual braces use a similar system of brackets and wires as traditional braces; the main difference is that they are placed on the inside of the teeth, where the tongue is. The placement behind the teeth makes them almost impossible to notice. The main advantage of these braces is that they are custom-made in a laboratory from impressions of your teeth. The wires are shaped by a robotic system to ensure absolute precision in your treatment. This system allows you to get the most effective and shortest treatment possible. To minimise the risk of allergic reaction, Incognito uses a gold alloy for the wires and brackets.

For whom is the lingual technique suitable?

The lingual orthodontic technique is an interesting solution for all adult and adolescent patients who wish to have their misaligned teeth corrected without aesthetic constraints. Lingual braces work particularly well when individual teeth need to be straightened or the jaw needs to be widened.

How long does a treatment last?

Treatment last on average 12 to 18 months. Only in the most complex cases can it take up to 24 months. Today, there are even quick treatments of 6 to 8 months when you only want to align a few teeth (Incognito Lite).

What are Incognito lingual braces made of?

The rings are made of a special gold alloy. This technology is therefore also suitable for patients with a nickel allergy. Due to the flat profile of the braces, wearing comfort and speech are not affected. Another advantage of the flat profile is that the gaps are easier to clean.

How much does an Incognito lingual treatment cost?

The cost of an Incognito treatment depends on the type of misalignment and the dental correction to be performed. During your first visit, the orthodontist will carry out a precise diagnosis which will enable him/her to establish a customised treatment plan. You will then receive a personalised quote.

Does it take longer than a conventional treatment?

The treatment time is not longer. The length of time that fixed braces can be worn is mainly determined by the extent of the misalignment. Since the surface of the inside of the tooth is harder and more resistant than that of the front of the tooth, the lingual technique offers optimal conditions for gentle, effective and invisible orthodontic treatment.

What is the Incognito™ Lite system?

The Incognito™ Lite system offers an alternative to aligners with a simple lingual treatment, ideal for invisible, comfortable and convenient care. It is especially dedicated to simple malocclusions and the average treatment time is between 6 and 9 months. Obviously, this solution is less expensive than the full Incognito appliance, as the materials required and the treatment time are less.

Self-ligating braces

Metal braces are the most commonly used braces in the world. In Geneva, our orthodontist uses only In-Ovation self-ligating braces that do not require the use of elastics or brackets to hold the wire in place, as with traditional braces. This means fewer appointments and less friction on the tooth. In-Ovation braces have been designed to optimise your orthodontic treatment. They have a sophisticated design, adapted to your physiology to achieve extremely accurate results. The self-ligating braces are thin. Their smooth surface offers you greater comfort.

They are fixed with traditional metal brackets but use a specialised clip instead of elastics to help the teeth guide the archwire into place. The clip helps to reduce pressure on the tooth and requires fewer adjustments as there are no elastics to replace. The alignment phase and results are visible much faster. This type of appliance creates many small spaces that trap food. It is therefore important to brush your teeth after every meal or to rinse your mouth well with water if you cannot brush at all.

This is a type of preventive orthodontics that is only used in children to guide or correct poor growth of the teeth and jaws. The aim is to be able to treat malocclusion problems at an early age, before growth is complete. This is because it is easier to work on the bones when they are still developing to avoid more serious and complicated problems in adulthood. However, it is important for parents to be aware that most children will still need to wear braces after interceptive treatment once they have reached dental maturity. This will make conventional orthodontic treatment much easier.
